General Info

Himuka Shokudo is a Japanese regional restaurant located at 3 Chome-16-13 Sotokanda, Chiyoda City, Tokyo 101-0021, Japan. For anyone interested in exploring regional flavors from Japan, this restaurant offers a focused dining experience that highlights the comforting and satisfying cuisine of Miyazaki. From the moment I looked through the menu, it was clear that chicken nanban is the star attraction here, and the kitchen puts considerable attention into presenting this local specialty in an authentic way.

One of the standout dishes is the 本場宮崎チキン南蛮定食 一枚肉&もも肉. This hearty set meal showcases tender chicken prepared in the traditional Miyazaki style, featuring both a whole cut and thigh meat. The balance of crispy texture, rich flavor, and satisfying portions makes it easy to understand why this dish receives so much attention in reviews. The meal is typically complemented by a serving of ライス and a comforting bowl of お吸い物, creating a complete and well-rounded lunch experience.

Another popular choice on the menu is the チキン南蛮半身定食. It offers a slightly different portion option while maintaining the same signature flavors that have made chicken nanban a beloved regional specialty. During my visit, the combination of juicy chicken, freshly prepared sides, and warm soup created a meal that felt both filling and authentic.

To enhance the dining experience further, Himuka Shokudo also offers チキン南蛮專用ビール. This specialty beer pairs naturally with the restaurant’s signature dishes, allowing guests to enjoy a unique regional-inspired food and beverage combination. In addition to beer, cocktails are available for those looking for alternative drink options.

The restaurant primarily caters to guests seeking a quality lunch destination. While there is no delivery service available, the dine-in experience remains the main attraction. Visitors arriving by car will appreciate the availability of parking nearby. It is also worth noting that the restaurant does not accept V-Money payments, so guests may want to prepare an alternative payment method before visiting.

What makes Himuka Shokudo memorable is its dedication to showcasing regional Japanese cuisine through a carefully crafted menu. The focused selection, authentic flavors, and welcoming atmosphere create a dining experience that feels genuine rather than commercial. For travelers exploring Tokyo and locals searching for reliable Japanese regional food, this location offers a rewarding opportunity to enjoy one of Miyazaki’s most famous culinary traditions.

What customers say?

“ i never thought chicken nanban could be so insanely delectable. this hot and steaming, golden — with a tint of saucy orange — piece of chicken leg was unbelievably JUICY and TENDER. biting into unleashed a literal BURST of juices and flavour, i can’t explain how divine this experience was. it was so moist, that it didn’t feel like your typical “lean” chicken meat. in addition to the INCREDIBLE chicken, the tartar was also so heavenly. generously covering each chicken leg was a creamy, sweet, and tangy sauce that complemented the meatiness of the chicken immaculately. this tartar sauce had a sweeter, rich taste than it did sour, and it really went so well with everything, including the crunchy, raw, and refreshing bed of cabbage it came with (eventually, the cabbage absorbed the juices dripping from the meat and the tartar sauce and it tasted so so so good). now imagine all of this heavenly goodness served on a soft, fluffy, and slightly sticky (allowing it to clump together on your chopsticks easily) bowl of rice that stayed steaming throughout the meal. the three piece chicken , though labeled as a small portion , was a perfect, filling size paired with a regular bowl of rice (the pieces of chicken are actually quite large and hefty). this was my second time coming actually, and i had ordered the breast last time and was extremely disappointed — in my memory, it was much drier and more flavourless compared to the thigh. i’m so glad that i gave this place another try though, because this is now one of my favourite places in the world. ”

“ Some of the best fried chicken I've had in Japan. Very tender and moist. Tar tar sauce is very delicious and goes well with their marinated chicken. Generous serving sizes too. ”

“ I love me some chicken nanban and I was excited to try this place. Ordering is easy at the machine when you walk in. There are several options to choose from, such as chicken breast or leg, tartar or salty, or a mix of the two. I went with the traditional option. The tartar felt a bit different than others I’ve tried, and maybe a bit more sour. It was good. The chicken felt a little undercooked however. Overall, it was still tasty and I would recommend trying it. Service was fast and friendly. ”
